Who Is Bunitj Miles Photography?

Bunitj Miles is a student currently studying film at SAE Qantm’s media institute in Brisbane, Australia.  This not what he has always done, before moving to Brisbane to study, Bunitj worked as an underwater photographer in the Whitsundays on the Queensland coast after working for a number of years as a Reef Interpreter.  Both of these occupations used his background in studying Marine Biology at James Cook University in Townsville and his qualifications as a PADI Divemaster.  Both tasks were performed with a passion and natural attunement with the sea that came from living on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean as a child.

The Whitsundays are not where Bunitj’s history with the film industry started.  It begins way back in the annals of history, to a period known as the 1980’s.  It was in this era where Bunitj fell in love with wildlife documentaries.  With a former Zookeeper father who was at the time a senior park ranger in the world heritage listed Kakadu National Park in Australia’s Northern Territory, Bunitj’s interaction with native animals, and viewership of David Attenborough's work was second to none at his age.

Bunitj’s long-term exposure to handling native animals, watching wildlife documentaries and being tasked with lugging his father's photography equipment through the beautiful landscapes of Australia’s north (not to mention having a more classic artist for a mother), lead to him having an innate understanding image design.  These skills helped Bunitj out a lot when approached by Mark Lamble of Evolve films to assist in the filming of a feature film, followed by a number of wildlife documentaries.  A short career held its climax in completing the cycle of watching Sir David Attenborough's work, to helping him create Life in Cold Blood.
